Athlete’s foot can be transmitted not only directly from person to person, but also indirectly via floors, towels or shoes.

Athletes-foot-2

Closed shoes (e.g. sneakers) provide the fungus with the warm, moist environment it needs to thrive and spread.

Athletes-foot-3

An untreated athlete’s foot infection can also spread to other parts of the body (hands, toenails, or groin area). Even a short skin contact can be enough.
